The Democrats in the US are celebrating President Obama’s re-election in party style; although, as is usual in re-elections, the parties for a re-election inauguration are way toned down from the first inauguration parties.
The Commander in Chief’s Ball
President Obama and the First Lady, Michelle Obama, looked glamorous, as always, and Michelle was particularly noticeable in her spectacular red dress. They danced while the stars played, noted was Jennifer Hudson for her rendition of “Let’s Stay Together” at the Commander in Chief’s party. This Inaugural Ball was for all the military in the armed forces including wounded warriors and members of the reserves. Other entertainers included Brad Paisley and Alicia Keyes.
The Inaugural Ball
The other ball that the President and First Lady attended was the Inaugural Ball itself which was by ticket only and included many of the same performers as the Commander in Chief’s party. Both balls were held in the Washington Convention Center and were attended by Washington dignitaries as well as the press, members of Congress and many other fund raisers and supporters of the Democratic Party. Although they were toned down from four years ago, they were a wonderful celebration of another successful election for the democrats.
